Both of these races will be determined at the Primary Elections as there were no other candidate filings by other parties. All registered voters affiliated with the Republican Party in Utah County are eligible to vote in both of these races that will establish leadership for four years in very significant adminstrative positions. Ut. County Commission, Seat A – All Utah County Residents -- Incumbent, Jerry Grover

Ut. County Clerk/Auditor -- All Utah County Residents-- Open Seat / No Incumbent, Bryan Thompson
-- Open Seat / No Incumbent, Cary McConnell
Traditionally, voter turnout during summer primaries is poor (less than 20%). Given these collective factors, these prominent local government positions can be decided with very little overall input from the public. Be certain that your voice is one that is heard in this important election process! The job descriptions for these offices are detailed on the Ut. County website as follows: COMMISSIONER – 4-YEAR TERM “Our county government is headed by a board of county commissioners, consisting of three commissioners. One commissioner is elected the same year as the President of the United States. The other two Commissioners are elected on the alternating election. Each commissioner is elected for a four-year term. One of the three commissioners is chosen chairperson. The board is responsible for all county officers and departments. They are full-time commissioners who meet with the public and county department officials two days a week. They also serve on various committees and boards which serve the residents of Utah County." He or she examines the financial bonds kept by the other county officials to see that accurate and complete records are maintained. As County Clerk, he or she is in charge of the records of the county. He or sheprocesses marriage licenses and passports and also conducts all elections in Utah county pertaining to county, state or national offices.” |
